There are still sections of the Trail that are covered in snow. Please keep an eye out for icy bridges and slick spots along the Trail. Even on a sunny day, shaded areas can have patches of ice. Let's make sure our adventures are safe and fun so we can enjoy even more time on the Capital Trail!

VDOT Replacing Truncated DOmes in Henrico County

VDOT is working on replacing the truncated domes on the Trail throughout Henrico County. Work will continue into 2025. Please use caution when passing VDOT workers.

The construction of Charles City's Market 5, located at MM 20, is underway.
”The Market 5 project will be the first of its kind in Virginia that will utilize shipping containers as retail space and cooking facilities. The project is expected to launch additional economic development in Charles City.”

Lighting Installation Planned for December near mm 51 (Rocketts Landing)

Beginning in December, self-sustaining lighting will be installed along the Capital Trail throughout the Rocketts Landing area (between MM 50 - MM 51) for increased pedestrian safety. This installation may include workers and equipment on or near the Trail. Please use caution when proceeding through the area.
